Hokies outlast No. 13 Georgia Tech in double overtime thriller

Three Hokies register 20-points Thursday night

ATLANTA – The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team earned a huge 105-94 victory in double overtime Thursday night handing No. 13 Georgia Tech their first loss of the season.

Virginia Tech moved to 11-4 and 2-2 in the ACC ahead of a three-game homestand.

Three Hokies scored 20 or more in the game, led by Carleigh Wenzel‘s 24 and 10 assists as she tallied the first double-double of her career. Rose Micheaux also recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Lani White also had 20 points, her first 20-point game in ACC play.

The Hokies had a season low 10 turnovers in the game and outshot the Yellow Jackets making 12 triples to the host’s six.

Virginia Tech is back on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum on Sunday, February 12 against Wake Forest at 2 p.m.

Program highlights and milestones:
•The 105 points scored is the most in an ACC game in program history
•It was the first time in program history that three athletes scored 20+ in an ACC game
•It was VT’s first time having three athletes score 20+ in the same game since Dec. of 2022
