Radford Bobcats maul Patrick County

STUART – The Radford Bobcats once again went on the road , as they traveled to Stuart, Virginia, to play the Cougars of Patrick Co. They scored early and often en route to a  convincing 49-14 victory.

QB Peyton Dobbins threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Colten Garner- Rollins had 91 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for a score. Trenton Carter scored two touchdowns, one on a pass reception and the other on a 64-yard punt return.

Radford scored on a Rollins 61-yard reception with 9:15 showing in the opening quarter. Tucker Williams would score at the 4:26 mark, catching a four-yard pass, 14-0.

The Bobcats would score again as Dobbins hit Carter on a 42-yard pass, and Luciano Pugliese’s kick upped the Bobcat lead to 21-0, with 2:34 left in the period

Patrick Co. got on the scoreboard at the 1:26 mark with QB Jayden Corns hitting Brayden Hylton a 72- yard pass, and it’s  21-7 after one quarter.

The Bobcats would score two more times in the second quarter, with Pace Prioleau scoring on a four-yard run and Trenton Carter running back a punt return for 64 yards. The Bobcats would be up 35-7 at intermission.

Patrick Co. would score with just 55 seconds left in the third quarter, with QB Corns bulled his way into the end zone from two yards, and Ivan Ortega’s kick made it 35-14.

Radford would put the game on ice, scoring twice in the final quarter. The first score occurred as Garner-Rollins ran in from four yards and then, using their second and third stringers, scored again with 7:31 left in the contest, with Brady Sutherland, the second string Qb hitting backup wide receiver Makel Blaney for a 36-yard strike, putting the Bocats up 49-14.

Radford head coach Michael Crist said, “ This was a great team win. A lot of guys got good touches. We played well defensively, but  we got to respond out of the half better. We got things to clean  up.”

Radford held the Cougars to 86 yards rushing on 42 carries.

The win upped the Radford record to 5-1, and they are undefeated (5-0)  on the road. They will be home next Friday, October 16, taking on Three Rivers District  foe Glenvar.
