Fort Chiswell defeats Rural Retreat, 89-61

The Fort Chiswell Varsity Boys Basketball Team traveled to Rural Retreat Friday night and defeated the Indians 89-61.

FC’s victory made it three wins in a row and tallied two over RR this year.

The Fort took control from the opening tip as Owen Jackson won the toss and proceeded to sink three three point baskets to close the first quarter with FC leading 23-8. Jackson would go on to tally his second double-double of the season finishing with 39 points and 12 rebounds.

Jackson helped open up a 27-14 second quarter by hitting two more threes as he ended the contest 5 for 11 from behind the arc. Eli Armbrister and Kenton Sutphin would also break double figures for the Pioneers as Armbrister finished with 16 and Sutphin with 10. Jessie Ayers and Landon Eversole each notched seven in the victory.

Rural Retreat was led by Dawson Williams with 16 points and Brody Allen’s 13. Brody Childress also chipped in nine in the losing effort. The Fort is scheduled to host Carroll on Tuesday and Grayson Co. on Friday as they improve to 3 wins and 1 loss on the season.
